Come join us for our week-long Teen Summer Academy and we will provide your student with a greater understanding of the important role of nurses in health, education, and in communities. See what a future career in the nursing profession looks like!
The University of South Carolina Upstate’s Mary Black College of Nursing will host its Teen Summer Academy this summer enabling rising 10th-12th graders in Spartanburg County to explore careers in nursing.
WHEN:
- The academy will be held from June 23 – 27, 2025, on USC Upstate’s main campus.
- Participants will be notified May 16, 2025 of acceptance.
- Deadline to apply is May 2, 2025 at 5 p.m.
WHO:
- Teen resident of Spartanburg County
- Attendee of Spartanburg County Schools
- Rising grades 10-12
- Limited space available (15 students)

- Learn about the role of the nurse.
- Explore various nursing career options.
- Explore various educational pathways to nursing.
- Learn how to prepare for college and nursing as a major.
- Participate in hands-on clinical simulations.
- Learn CPR and basic first aid skills.
- Take a hospital tour.
